Post Mod, Melanie Bowles, cotton, 2012
Melanie Bowles creates vibrant digital prints on silk and linen through co-design processes employing collage techniques with workshop participants to arrive at a final design concept. Paper and paint act as starting points before she translates these into digital collages for fashion, exhibition and publication. Practising as a researcher at the forefront of new textiles media, Bowles brings together tradition with future craft such as collaborative design methodologies, open source design processes and prosumer dynamics. Recent exhibitions include Lab Craft (Crafts Council, UK), Trash Fashion at the Science Museum (UK) and Future Everything (UK).
